Bashir ABDI (BEL) - silver

On what it means to finally win a medal after missing out at the Helsinki 2012 and Zurich 2014 Euroeaen Championships:

"I have been working very hard to get this medal since 2010, and I finally got it.

"In Helsinki I got fourth, in Zurich fifth, so now it was now or never. But all these up and downs are just the part of the game."

On his assessment of the race:

"I think I ran a smart race, and saved the energy for the finish. I think the real race started in the fifth kilometre and the last 800 metres were crucial.

"All the guys started to push it hard. I was going for gold but I am OK with the silver as the race was very tactical. And the silver medal is not bad, I guess."
