Ethan HAYTER (GBR) - gold
On winning gold:
"It's unbelievable really. It's my first major individual medal and it is so good to do it in front of a home crowd."
On not being expected to win:
"I knew I could physically be capable of it if it went right. I think I proved that in the scratch race, where I messed that up technically and tactically. I still managed to scrape a second, which I shouldn't really have been allowed to do."
On the success of the British cycling team:
"I've always been pushed for places. I thought, coming into it, I wouldn't necessarily make the team pursuit team, even though I was world champion. I think what makes it so successful is that there's people driving everyone on. Getting support is one of the hardest things to do rather than actually getting the medal."
