GLASGOW - Comments from Trine SCHMIDT (DEN), the reigning European champion in the points and scratch races, after the first training session at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Emirates Arena, on Tuesday.

On her first day of training at Glasgow 2018 European Championships:

"We arrived yesterday evening and we had a good night's sleep in a cold Glasgow, because we were coming from a heatwave, so we are very happy. In Denmark it's very, very hot now, so I'm happy to be here with a good cold temperature.

"I feel good and I find the track very nice. It feels similar to the one we have in Copenhagen; it's a 250m track, so it feels like home. We had a really good training here this morning."

On her season:

"I haven't done much track since the worlds and the worlds didn't really go as I hoped [at the Apeldoorn 2018 World Championships, SCHMIDT finished sixth in the points race and fourth in the madison], so I hope to have better legs and better shape now.

"Beside the track, I do road cycling and I've had quite a good season with my team. No big wins, though, but I have good feelings now."

On entering the Glasgow 2018 European Championships as double European champion:

"It feels awesome, I don't feel any pressure.

"I had come back two years ago from a long, long break and winning two titles last year was quite amazing and, of course, I hope to do good as well here but you never know, there are a lot of good riders here."

On the events she is entering at Glasgow 2018:

"I'm only doing three events: scratch, individual pursuit and elimination. I think scratch will be my best discipline.

"I have two team-mates with me so we're swapping around."
