GLASGOW - Comments from track cyclist Kirsten WILD (NED) after winning gold in the women's scratch race at Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Emirates Arena, on Friday.
Kirsten WILD (NED) - Gold
On winning gold:
"For me it's a big one. It's a European (championships) and for me that's important (so) I focused on this race.
"I am really happy with it. It is always a bit of a gamble."
On chasing down a breakaway from Trine SCHMIDT (DEN) and Jolien D'HOORE (BEL):
"They had a big bullet of course and I knew they were going to attack so I had to chase them."
On the last lap:
"It was really odd, I felt Emily (KAY, GBR, who finished second) coming from behind, I could feel her right next to me and I was all like 'Oh, no, no, no she's gonna pass me'. I was trying to look at her, but I just felt her coming from behind.
"On the finish line she was so much close to me that I was not even sure that I won. I had to wait and see from the big screen, at the replay.
"She came in with a lot of speed that she eventually passed me. Apparently after the finish line (laughs)."
