DV: TORRANCE (GBR) - 'I've got another chance to show people what I'm made of"
EDINBURGH - Comments from Katherine TORRANCE (GBR) after she qualified for the women's 1m springboard final on Friday afternoon with 12th place in the morning's preliminaries at the Royal Commonwealth Pool.
Katherine TORRANCE (GBR)
On how she feels qualifying after moving up from 15th to 12th in the last round and sealing the last place in the final:
"It feels good. I am a bit disappointed with how I performed because I'm not used to finishing as low as I did. It's usually a lot easier, but I'm happy I got through.
"I don't normally watch my scores, so I don't know where I am [placed] but I knew I wasn't doing good. I could hear the scores, even though I put my fingers in my ears, so [when standing on the board ready to do the final dive] I thought 'this has to be good if you want to go through'.
On her preparations for the final:
"I'm going to go into the final with a new mindset, knowing I wasn't great this morning, but I've got another chance to show people what I'm made of.
"I know I can do better. I have nothing to lose. Anyone can win medal, everyone cannot dive great. I feel I should be up there fighting for one of the medals."
On her main competitors in the final:
"Elena [BERTOCCHI (ITA)] and Tina [PUNZEL (GER)]. She (PUNZEL) dived really well this morning, so she's definitely one to watch."
