GA: SHEPPARD (HUN) - 'We want to make the team final so badly'
GLASGOW - Comments from Ryan Macleod SHEPPARD (HUN) after subdivision 1 of 3 of men's gymnastics qualifications at The SSE Hydro on Thursday.
Ryan Macleod SHEPPARD (HUN)
On the team's performance today, where they are currently in first place after the first subdivision:
"We had really good preparation before the European championships and just wanted to go out and do our gymnastics. It wasn’t perfect but everyone did very well, especially Balazs KISS and myself, as it was our first European championships, so it was a very good experience."
On his own performance on the parallel bars, where he is currently in second place:
"Parallel bars was the first event for us and it's one of my favourites to compete in. So I just wanted to go out there and do my best and do my gymnastics. That's all I wanted to focus on."
On team-mate David VECSERNYES' performance on the horizontal bar, in which he is currently in first place:
"His high-bar training and routine is incredible and he is so confident with it. So it was really good to see him hit his performance and do what he knows how to do."
On their expectations for the team final on Saturday:
"We want to make the team final so badly and if we make it, we just want to do the same thing. Just go out there, not worry about the other teams and just do our gymnastics."
On their expectations for making the apparatus finals on Sunday:
"I don’t think I’ll make parallel bars, but I think David (VECSERNYES) has a very good chance of medalling on the horizontal bar."
