GA: ZONDERLAND (NED) - silver in horizontal bar
GLASGOW - Comments from Epke ZONDERLAND (NED) after he took the silver medal in the horizontal bar at the SSE Hydro on Sunday.
Epke ZONDERLAND (NED) - silver
On taking the silver medal:
"I am quite happy with my routine actually. My biggest challenge was the combination of flight elements that I do, because you really need to stay calm to do them.
"I am happy that I managed the two combinations of flight elements. It went a bit wrong after that, with my disloque (an element in her routine), but to be honest that has been some kind of struggle for me anyway the last couple of months.
"I don't know how to explain, but I am kind of relieved that it went wrong with that element rather than the flight element combinations.
"To finish behind Oliver HEGI (SUI), who really performed a world-class routine, is great. I am happy with the result, really."
On his new goals:
"This result has given me a lot of confidence now. I was a bit nervous today, but I was also relaxed. I think I am in good shape for the next tournaments. I think I can still upgrade my difficulty score towards the world championships. I didn't peak just yet, I am just working on getting better and better for the worlds."
