GO: DAVIES (GBR) - 'HALL might run out of puff on Sunday - I might have to do some work'

GLASGOW - Comments from Laura DAVIES (GBR) after practice for the golf team event at the Gleneagles PGA Centenary Course on Tuesday.

Laura DAVIES (GBR)

On representing Great Britain:

"I am looking forward to it. It adds that little bit of sparkle because Georgia [HALL, GBR] did what she did at the weekend [won the Women’s British Open]. Hopefully it will mean extra fans out there who want to see the British champion, which will be nice."

On the possibility of winning a gold medal:

"I've never had a gold medal so it would be nice. I'm banking on my partner and the form she's in. I wont have to do anything. I might chip the odd birdie, but I'm just going to watch her go."

On Georgia HALL's reaction to winning the British Open:

"There's nothing better than playing in your next tournament after you've had a win. It's a different feeling. I know she's won other tournaments but nothing like this. Maybe she'll run out of puff a bit on Sunday, a long week on top of a long week, so maybe I'll have to do some work on Sunday {for the semifinals and medal matches] if we get there."

On how HALL should handle things as British champion:

"The main thing is not to say yes to everything because she will be asked to do loads of different things. She needs to keep some energy to play good golf."

On staying grounded:

"I was with her in the office here registering, and just won the Open, she was as cool as a cucumber, looking forward to this week - and that's Georgia."

On HALL winning the British Open.

"I didn't think she'd win on Sunday because she had so many, so young, too many around her, that one of them would have put the pressure on. But she was the one that put the pressure on. It was amazing to watch."

On the impact HALL's win will have on women's golf:

"A lot of young girls will have seen that. Not everyone's going to become the world No.1 but if they have seen that and what Georgia did, in the galleries, lots of young kids, it will definitely inspire the next generation."
