GO: HAFTHORSSON, BOASSON (ISL) - silver in men's team event

GLASGOW - Comments from  silver medallists  Birgir HAFTHORSSON and Axel BOASSON (ISL) after winning silver in the men's team event at the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles on Sunday.

Birgir HAFTHORSSON - silver

On losing the final:

"It's a disappointment to lose the final match but we can still be pleased, we played well. The conditions were tough today, awful, and we made a couple of mistakes."

On fighting back and still having a chance with three holes to go:

"Yes, yes. You never give up. Rule number one."

On not quite pulling off the 'miracle' of two gold medals:

"Not quite, but we were close. We hit the bogey train on the front nine and little mistakes punish you at Gleneagles. It was a long way back from there but we were almost there, we didn't hole the crucial putts. They held theirs on the crucial moments."

On where the medals will go when they get home:

"I'll let my wife decorate that. She's in charge of the house and will decide where the medals go."

Axel BOASSON - silver

On winning a gold (in the mixed team event on Saturday) and a silver medal:

"I'm honoured to be playing with Birgir (HAFTHORSSON) and playing for Iceland."

On his feelings about what they have achieved here:

"I am disappointed right now but afterwards, no. I could never have imagined that we would be playing for second when this week started. We were just going to show up and have fun."

On where the medals will go when they get home:

"I will probably put them in my parents' house. I have some trophies there so that is where they will go."
