GO: JOHNSTON, SYME (GBR) - 'This is a week off with my mate'
GLASGOW – Comments from Liam JOHNSTON (GBR) and Connor SYME (GBR) after practice for the golf team event at Gleneagles PGA Centenary Course on Tuesday.
Liam JOHNSTON (GBR)
On having won a match play tournament this year on the Challenge tour:
"I like the format. Especially playing with Connor, I think we both enjoy the match play format."
On partnering SYME:
"I have known Connor since he was 10, 12 years old. I played at the club where his dad used to be the head pro. We've known each other a long time."
On playing this championship:
"I was actually planning on having this week off. I think I was sixth reserve for this championship and then I ended up getting in. It's a great way to spend a week off with a good friend and a good format."
Connor SYME (GBR)
On playing in Scotland:
"It's good to be home and playing here. I’m looking forward to it starting tomorrow."
On playing match play:
"We had loads of match play golf at amateur level so it's not new to us at all. Slightly different format with it being better ball, but we are both honoured to be a part of it."
On experience of playing the PGA Centenary Course:
"I think Liam has played it once, I've never played it but I've caddied for my dad."
