Sifan HASSAN (NED) - gold
On her race plan:
"That was an amazing race. My plan was to go in front on the last 800m for the final sprint. I did what my coach told me.
"Winning this gold medal is very pleasant. I have to get more experience in the 5000m, it is very special for me to improve on the 5000m."
On seeing Israel's Lonah Chemtai SALPETER celebrate crossing the finish line one lap too early:
"On the last lap I saw SALPETER, I thought she wanted to do a larger sprint. I thought that she wanted to pick up the race. And when she stopped, I went 'Am I right? What is she doing? What should I do?'. I heard the people shout. It was crazy. And then I realised that I was right and continued my race for the final lap."
