AT: MUIR (GBR) - gold, WEIGHTMAN (GBR) - bronze in women's 1500m #2

BERLIN - Comments from Great Britain's Laura MUIR and Laura WEIGHTMAN after winning the gold and bronze medals respectively in the women's 1500m at Berlin Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

Laura MUIR (GBR) - gold

On her performance:

"I knew a lot of the girls had a good finish so I thought the longer I leave it then the more risky it's going to be and I know I can run hard from a long way out so I just did that so Laura (WEIGHTMAN) could go behind me.

"It was great. I was seeing one-two on the board and I just ran as hard as I could to the finish line."

On the pressure to win gold going into the race:

"This is probably the most pressure I've been under, in terms of expectation to win, so yes, it was something new for me but I think I handled it really well.

"I just so thankful for all the support I've had back at home and here as well."

Laura WEIGHTMAN (GBR) - bronze

On her performance:

"I'm slightly disappointed. The plan was to run hard from the start, that's why I hit the front. And when Laura (MUIR) went past I really wanted to go with her and hold on for as long as I could.

"I knew the girls behind had massively sat off it but I thought, 'Take that risk and really commit and see what you've got'. That last 200 metres was really hard but I never not fight for that line. I knew the line was coming and I had to get there as hard as I could.

"Hanging on for bronze, I'm delighted."
