On the high quality of the competition:
"This competition was real fun. A lot of athletes fought for third place. It was an excellent final, very competitive with six athletes over 21 metres and two athletes over 21.50 metres.
"Winning a medal is the main aim at a championship. This competition was on a very high level, but I was missing the last bit of luck, the luck one need to slap one out.
"I am definitely happy with this medal, it is my fourth medal at a European championships. Not everything came together totally today, but I am really looking forward to receiving my medal tomorrow."
On competing in Olympic Stadium:
"After the world championships (in Berlin) in 2009 I knew what the atmosphere would be like and what great support to expect. I tried to animate the audience and I totally enjoyed everything.
"After my first attempt, I concentrated on my technique and tried to be faster."
On watching his team-mates competing in other events:
"I saw my team-mate Gina (LUCKENKEMPER) win the silver (in the women's 100m) and I saw my team-mate Arthur (ABELE) in the 400m of the decathlon - man, awesome. Germany can really look forward to a great championships."
