SW: KOLESNIKOV (RUS) - 'I touched the wall and wow'

GLASGOW - Comments from Kliment KOLESNIKOV (RUS) after qualifying in second place from the heats of the 100m backstroke at Tollcross International Swimming Centre on Sunday.

On how he feels after setting a world record of 24.00 seconds in the 50m backstroke on Saturday:

"I expected a little to beat the world record because in the semifinals I swam 24.25 and felt I could swim faster. So I just concentrated in the finals and did it.

"I was confused. I touched the wall, saw the world record and 'wow'."

On what he considers his best distance given he is world junior record holder for all backstroke events:

"I think the 100m is my best. Then the 50m and 200m. But I hope I can show a good result in 200m back as well."
