Ruta MEILUTYTE (LTU) - silver
On her expectations before the European Championships and her reaction to winning a silver medal
"It has turned out amazing. Coming into the championships I had a lot of uncertainty and self-doubt. This season has been very different. I have had a lot of changes. I just recently moved to a new programme.
"It has been chaotic, and coming into this championships I didn't really know what to expect.
“Until I settled, my training was not consistent, so I am over the mooon to go away with a silver medal. I couldn't be happier."
On her recent move to Los Angeles
"The move is a long-term investment. The most important thing was to become a happy person, then the swimming would come.
“I have been living in Los Angeles for four four months and I’m very happy there.
“I have no broken bones, which is good [she broke her elbow in 2015 when she fell off a bicycle]. I’m very positive, feeling confident and I just want to enjoy every second of the process."
