SW: PEATY (GBR) - gold in men's 50m breaststroke
GLASGOW - Comments from Adam PEATY (GBR) after winning the gold medal in the men's 50m breaststroke in a championship-record 26.09 seconds at Tollcross International Swimming Centre on Wednesday.
Adam PEATY (GBR) - gold
On winning gold - his third at Glasgow 2018 - after having to settle for silver in this event at the Commonwealth Games in April:
"Tonight I tried to right my wrongs and it just proves that I can get near that world record now [his own, 25.95s] and maybe next year even touch it again."
On the strength of the British swimming team:
"It's absolutely great to see because the juniors are learning from the elders. At the end of the day, it's just racing. You've got to be the best racer, you've got to be confident in what you do and not get caught up. The same principle is you've got to do the process and that's what we're around now.
"It's great to see the youth coming through - hopefully not too many breaststrokers - but it's great to be in this position."
On what he will do before the 4x100m medley relay tomorrow:
"Chill out, rest down, get a massage. Absorb that (this win) but not too much. I'm going to enjoy all this after I've finished but I've still got a job to do tomorrow so my emotional level's got to come back down to neutral.
"Three of three golds is good."
