GLASGOW - Comments from Paula RAMIREZ I IBANEZ (ESP), Meritxell MAS PUJADAS (ESP) and coach Mayuko FUIJIKI (JPN) after finishing fourth by 0.1 of a point in the synchronised swimming free team final at Scotstoun Sports Campus on Saturday.
Paula RAMIREZ I IBANEZ (ESP)
On finishing fourth in the final:
"We are a little sad as we felt much better about the performance. But we fought hard to catch up from yesterday [improve on preliminary round score] and we all feel proud of how we did.
"The result was so close and we still have four more days so we will still fight "
Meritxell MAS PUJADAS (ESP)
On how the team will progress after their disappointment:
"We need to move on and focus on the rest of the days. Tomorrow is another day."
Mayuko FUJIKI (JPN) Coach
On Spain's performance in the final:
"We were very close to the other top teams and when you get that close it can be easy to lose your focus. If we look at yesterday's routine they have made improvements.
"I had told the girls they should be close to Italy and other top teams next year so really we are a year ahead of our goal. I also told them that what makes a good team is to get over things quickly. If you can't you're not a high level athlete.
On what the team will improve on:
"We still have the technical team ahead so we will be putting 100 per cent into that. It is risky to perform the technical well but we will really be looking to execute all the techniques."
