TR: BEAUGRAND (FRA) - bronze in the women's triathlon
GLASGOW - Comments from bronze medallist Cassandre BEAUGRAND (FRA) after the women's triathlon at Strathclyde Country Park on Thursday.
Cassandre BEAUGRAND (FRA) - bronze
On the race:
"It was a very difficult race and not really my preferred race profile. I tried to push, push. I had a really tight race with Jessica LEARMONTH (GBR) which I don't normally do, because I'm less strong on the bike. I really had trouble on the run leg, at least I was not at my normal level, but I kept my position."
On being caught by eventual winner Nicola SPIRIG (SUI) on the bike leg:
"The first thing Jessica and I said to each other was 'shit'. We saw we had a 10-second lead on the hill, and then we lost it straight away because she attacked."
On the run leg:
"My aim was to keep the bronze. I knew they were too far away from me on the bike and I couldn't catch them, and I was still having trouble with the run. The aim was just to keep that third place."
On the mixed relay on Saturday:
"I can't wait for the relay. Now I'll get some rest and recovery, and hope to bring home another medal."
