TR: PERIAULT, LE CORRE (FRA) #2 - gold in triathlon mixed relay
GLASGOW - Comments from gold medallists Leonie PERIAULT (FRA) and Pierre LE CORRE (FRA) after the triathlon mixed relay at Strathclyde Country Park on Saturday.
Leonie PERIAULT (FRA) - gold
On recovering from a bike crash in Thursday's individual race:
"I really wanted to come back from that because I was very frustrated and disappointed with my race on Thursday. But I told myself to focus on today's race and regain my form and I think I managed to do that. My bike that was broken and I had to borrow a new bike for today's race. In the end it didn't bother me too much."
Pierre LE CORRE (FRA) - gold
On the way they set up their team:
"We've always said that when you're strong individually generally there are no surprises in the relay. Everything depends on the configuration.
"Today we decided to put Dorian [CONINX] (last), principally because he was fresh, he hadn't run. It was really hard to recover (from yesterday). You saw that in the relay, all the guys were really tired. Those who hadn't raced yesterday had more juice."
On racing the relay after winning the individual event:
"It's totally different. This one is really nice because I can share it with friends and team-mates. Yesterday was more personal. Individual race are all about me and my performance."
On recovering from Friday's race:
"I was not really fresh. I was in front, so it's really hard to be in front in the relay because your're being chased by everyone. It's easier to be the chaser than to be chased."
