A member of the UK Sport Lottery Funded World-Class Performance Squad, Leeds based Stanford was the ITU World Champion in 2013 and represented Team GB at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, finishing in fourth.
However, her career didn’t start out over three disciplines, Non was a successful cross country runner before studying Sport and Exercises Sciences at the University of Birmingham.
In the summer of 2008 she changed to swimming due to injury and later joined the University’s triathlon club, and she has never looked back!
In the 2009 British Triathlon Super Series she came second, and in 2009/10 was awarded the Paul Weston Triathlon Scholarship to concentrate on triathlon. After graduating in 2010, in the same year, she won the bronze medal at the Premium European Cup in Brasschaat.
Since moving to Leeds she has trained alongside Alistair and Jonathon Brownlee and in 2012 she had a breakthrough year.
She won gold at the ITU Triathlon Mixed Relay and another gold at the U23 ITU World Championships and 2013 brought more success winning the ITU Madrid World Triathlon series, before winning the Series Title in London.
An injury setback put Non out for 2014 but 2015 saw her finish second at the Rio Olympic Test Event and the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in Chicago and in 2016 she came an agonising fourth at the Rio Olympics.
More injuries prevented Non really making an impact in 2017 except for a number of strong placements and a gold medal at the Chengdu ITU Triathlon World Cup.
This year, three podium finishes in the ITU Series and 8th place at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Non stands a real chance of European glory at Glasgow 2018.
