The 50m bell tower of the Gedächtniskirche is one of Berlin’s most famous sights and now an even bigger eyecatcher for all locals and tourists. As from today, the tower is shining in new splendour as it promotes the Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships.
The hexagonal building has been covered by the company APA in only two days and is now shining in the colours of Berlin 2018 and the European Championships being held from 2-12 August in Glasgow, Scotland.
Only 41 days before the start of the European Athletics Championships, the organizers of Berlin 2018 are setting another benchmark. In addition to the competitions held at Berlin Olympic Stadium, the European Mile is playing a major role for Berlin 2018.
The branded veiling of the bell tower is displaying the German athletics stars Julian Reus (100m) and Olympic Champion in javelin Thomas Röhler. On top of the branding, the European flag indicates the European Festival to be celebrated at the European Mile during Berlin 2018.
The famous blue race track, a big stage and stands for 3,000 people will be built for the European Mile and around the Gedächtniskirche. In August, visitors can experience and enjoy athletics, a creative show program and 38 medal ceremonies for free.
