The new European Championships is a ground breaking product which has united 7 major European Championships into one event.
The event combines the existing prestigious European Championship of swimming, cycling, athletics, rowing, gymnastics, triathlon and golf to create a world class sporting occasion. 11 days of elite sporting competition will be complemented by mass participation activation experience to fully engage fans from across Europe.
The inaugural event will be staged between August 2nd – 12th 2018, jointly hosted by Glasgow and Berlin.
Staged every 4 years, the Championships will elevate the Champions of Europe.
The Championships are owned & managed by the European Sports Federations. This is organised through the vehicle of a Championships Board which includes all 7 leading Sports, the European Broadcast Union and host cities Glasgow & Berlin.
The Championships are founded on the key principles of sustainability, inclusion & responsibility:
- Sustainability – The Championships uses existing sporting facilities where it can to host the event, with the aim is to ensure the existing facilities, city and surrounds benefit positively both economically and socially from the event.
- Consumer Inclusion – Mass participation activation experience to fully engage fans from across Europe. All event consumer touch points from the price of tickets to our social media campaigns aim to make the Championships affordable and inclusive.
- Responsibility – The Championships aims to inspire us and encourage participation in sports. More than ever, this is a fundamental part of European sports social responsibility.
We are looking to build innovative partnerships with brands to support a new vision of creating a must-watch, must-attend experience that elevates the Champions of Europe.
