Fastest time wins with male and female individual events in a 5k, 10k and 25k open water course. 4 athletes can also join together to compete in the 5k team event.
As the Open Water Swimming venue for Glasgow 2018, Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park showcased exciting sporting action set amongst some of the most stunning scenery in the whole of Scotland. All individual events used a 2.5km lap course, the team event used a 1.25km lap course; with the start, lap turn and finish all located within Drumkinnon Bay – creating a natural stage for spectators and broadcasters.

Ligue Européenne de Natation (LEN) is the European governing body for aquatic sports affiliated to FINA. LEN was founded in Budapest in 1926. It is the oldest continental federation governing and coordinating aquatic sports. LEN comprises 52 national swimming federations and oversees the aquatic sports of diving, swimming, open water swimming, synchronised swimmng and water polo in Europe. LEN has introduced and led many innovations across the different aquatics disciplines. Its continental calendar of events has seen the introduction of a wide range of youth competitions, programs and events, giving the opportunity of participation to everybody in all aquatic disciplines.
