Tuesday’s action at the European Championships Munich 2022 reached its pinnacle with a crazy night of athletics at the iconic Olympiastadion. A 40,000-strong crowd had every reason to chant “Oh, wie ist das schön” (Oh how beautiful it is) as they celebrated two surprise gold medals for Germany.

On day 5 of the European Championships Munich 2022 a total of 14 sets of medals were awarded, with the crowds flocking to the venues to cheer on the new European champions. The fans were in for a treat and spoilt for choice, as athletics and beach volleyball got their competitions underway on Monday.

The apparatus finals in Olympiahalle provided goosebump moments for the audience and the German gymnasts themselves as they clinched two surprise gold medals on the fourth day of action of the European Championships Munich 2022 which also saw the rowing and triathlon events come to a close in the Bavarian capital.

Eight sets of medals were awarded on the second day of the European Championships Munich 2022, with host nation Germany claiming two golds and two silvers to top the medal table. Whilst the favourites ran away with victory in most events, they were not immune to defeat in others.
